Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble...

I was revisiting some of my favorite Halloween ideas when I came to some of the inspirations I used for my Apothecary set. DeadSpider has some of the most elaborate creations I have seen, and even used to sell them on Etsy. Sadly, the blog has been inactive since last August, so I fear there may not be any more spookiness from DeadSpider. I am going to link the site, however, since the awesome creations may help to inspire other's Apothecaries. I know I still smile when I see them:)
I really love the attention to detail in DeadSpider's Witch's Cabinet!

Such wonderful ideas!
The grubs look totally slimy.
These potion ingredients make me think of Hogwarts.

Be sure to explore the rest of the website, because DeadSpider really knows how to put together the perfect Halloween display.

Oh, Martha Stewart...

I really have a love-hate relationship with Martha Stewart. There is just something about her that really irks me. Not to mention that there is no way humanly possible for her to be that crafty. To borrow the idea from Joss Whedon,  i've decided she's a witch. That having been said, she really does have some phenomenal  ideas, regardless of how she came about them. Take this vase, for example. So simple, yet quite elegant. It's a centerpiece that would work for kid and adult parties alike. Get the tutorial here:

Spooky Rose Vase

She has countless ideas on her website that I would love to utilize, if I had the time (or a yard for that matter-you cant very well have a graveyard in a second floor apartment. But maybe I can borrow my parent's yard... hehehe:)). Here's one for a kid's party:

Fanged and Winged Pumpkins

All you need for the Fanged Pumpkins are some small pumpkins, plastic fangs, and red-topped pins. Carve a hole for the mouth(Martha even gives you a template), insert fangs, and add pins. Voila! To make the Bat Pumpkin, just use the template to cute out your bat wings(or make your own-give your bats some individuality and personality!), and attach the ends with hot glue. Simple, quick, and an easy decoration for most Halloween themes!

Keep it spooky!

I just LOVE Halloween! If I could have my apartment decorated all year(and not get the odd comments that are sure to follow from visitors, as well as my husband,) I would live in a perpetual Halloween Town. Alas, it is not meant to be. But there is nothing to stop me from celebrating Halloween in my heart the remaining 9 months of the year! (My decorations are usually up for about 3 months, which is about all my husband can handle:)) So I have made this blog to allow my to have a virtual celebration when there isn't the time or place for a real one. So, here is my attempt to Keep It Spooky!
